She made her debut in professional tennis at the young age of 14, becoming the youngest tennis player ever to play and winning at the Fed Cup for Russia. The young tennis player reached the U.S. Open at the age of 15, and the semi-finals of Wimbledon by her 16th birthday. She retired from tennis professionally at age 21 due to back problems.
